Signs and graphics can be designed and produced using a range of traditional and contemporary techniques, involving the use of advanced printing software and technology, and a range of methods for illumination and fabrication.
Sign manufacturers design, manufacture, print and or paint signs for displays, buildings, hoardings, boats and structures for construction, graphic production and visual display industries.
After successful completion of this qualification, students may have the opportunity to progress into higher level qualifications.
All students must have access to a workplace that has personal protective equipment, including appropriate head attire and suitable tools of the trade.
Credit may be assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learningoutcomes between different types of learning and/or qualifications. Credit reducesthe amount of learning required to achieve a qualification and may be acquired through Credit Transfer or Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).
Students must register as an apprentice with an approved Australian Apprenticeship Support Network Provider (AASN), for more information please visit the Apprenticeships Info website.
Employers must be able to meet the employer resource critera including nominiating a supervisor who holds the appropriate industry qualification(s).
Students applying to access funded places will be required to meet the eligibility requirements applicable to the funding program, this may include undertaking a Language, Literacy and Numeracy test.
Apprenticeship (including School-Based) – offered in Queensland, workplace based (combination of training and assessment delivery methods, including written assessment, portfolio of evidence, logbook and practical observation), 4 years full time or 8 years part time. RPL – offered in Australia, external based (combination of assessment of written evidence, practical observation and competency conversations), duration and fees will be determined by quality of evidence submitted and amount of gap training required. Apprenticeship – Student contribution fees of $1,016.00* are applicable (apprentices eligible for concessional prices are required to pay 40% of the student contribution fees).
* Fees may be subject to change where elective contexualisation is applied.
Students must successfully complete all 7 mandatory core units in order to achieve this qualification:
