Course Description
This qualification reflects the role of educators in early childhood education and care who work in regulated children’s education and care services in Australia. They support children’s wellbeing, and development in the context of an approved learning framework. Educators use a range of well-developed skills and knowledge using discretion and judgment when carrying out their work in the context of established policies and procedures.

Students are required to have access to a computer with suitable word processing software and will require access to the internet for research purposes.
Course Credit
Credit may be assigned for the recognition of equivalence in content and learning outcomes between different types of learning and/or qualifications. Credit reduces the amount of learning required to achieve a qualification.

FOR DOMESTIC:
Students must undergo a working with children police check and have a valid blue card before undertaking work placement. For further information, please visit bluecard.qld.gov.au.
It is recommended, although not mandatory that students have the following immunisations: Influenza, Measles, Rubella (German measles), Chickenpox (varicella), Hepatitis A, Mumps, Whooping cough (pertussis).
Students must be over 18 years of age. Student visa applicants are required to provide the results of an English language test. ASMI will accept test results from the following specified English language tests for student visa purposes taken in any country:
- The TOEFL Paper-Based Test (TOEFL PBT)
- Pearson Test of English (PTE) Academic
- Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE) test (also known as Certificate in Advanced English).
Students are required to reach a minimum level of English: IELTS 5.5 (with no individual band less than 5.0) or TOEFL 530 or ISLPR 2+. For further advice or assistance, please contact the International Student Manager.

Delivery Models
FOR DOMESTIC:
Classroom Based – offered in Brisbane and Sydney, classroom and workplace-based (combination of training and assessment delivery methods, including written assessment, portfolio of evidence, logbook and practical observation including 160 hours of vocational placement), 42 weeks full time.
RPL – offered in Australia, external based (combination of assessment of written evidence, practical observation and competency conversations), duration and fees will be determined by quality of evidence submitted and amount of gap training required. FOR INTERNATIONAL (BRISBANE & SYDNEY):
Classroom Based – offered in Brisbane and Sydney, classroom and workplace based (combination of training and assessment delivery methods, including written assessment, portfolio of evidence, logbook and practical observation including 120 hours of vocational placement), 26 weeks full time
RPL – offered in Australia, external based (combination of assessment of written evidence, practical observation and competency conversations), duration and fees will be determined by quality of evidence submitted and amount of gap training required.
Work Based Training – Students are required to complete a mandatory minimum work placement (120 hours), students must have access to a regulated education and care service provider, with appropriate range of work tasks and ratios of children, AND access to a qualified supervisor (i.e. a person who holds a Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care or equivalent).
Fees and Funding Arrangements
FOR DOMESTIC:
Traineeship – Student contribution fees of $1,373.00 are applicable (trainees eligible for concessional prices are required to pay 40% of the student contribution fees).
Workplace Based (Fee for Service): Administration Fee: $30.00, Tuition Fees: $3,000.00
Workplace Based (Certificate 3 Guarantee – for eligible students) – Non Concessional Student Contribution Fees:$930.00 [Administration Fee: $30.00 + Tuition Fees: $900.00] , Concessional Student Contribution Fees (for eligible students): $480.00 [Administration Fee: $30.00 + Tuition Fees: $450.00] .. Contextualisation
Elective unit selection may be contextualised to business requirements. All electives chosen must contribute to a valid, industry-supported vocational outcome.
